Core Programming is CrossFit- And we build from there. HYROX-Weightlifting-Strength-Yoga

The philosophical base to our programming is CrossFit. It is the gateway and the stepping stone to excel in all aspects of fitness. That being said, you’ll find CrossFit programming as the core of our schedule, and speciality classes that will compliment and cater to your specific needs.

Class Crossfit PROGRAMMING

At Opus Athletics we do not copy and paste 12 week programs. We are constantly analyzing data, learning through results, and as a result, keep changing what we do. Throughout the year, our goals shift, so what works in the winter, might not be our focus in the summer. At the moment, here are the classes we offer.

CrossFit Program: Offered Monday through Saturday. Saturday’s are often parntered/team WODs, but not necessarily. Throughout the week we will see a mix of both longer and shorter workouts. Upper body focused day, lower body focuses days. A mix of gymnastics and weightlifting throughout the week, as well as a longer endurance session. Please note that the CrossFit Methodology is constantly varied. Meaning, as much as we follow certain guidelines, we deviate from routine to avoid stagnation. So as always, be prepared for whatever comes your way.

HYROX class is offered on Wednesday and Sunday. If you are well versed in these movements, CrossFit experience isn’t required. (However, we might ask you do a foundations class to help coach you through technique if we this needs addressing.) This class can be for someone who is specifically training for a HYROX event, or someone who likes longer more cardio driven workouts. A HYROX class can be classified as a cardio class with a focus on being adapted and ready for HYROX event, which is: 1 km of Running between the following 8 exercises stations:

  • 1000m Ski Erg

  • 50m Sled Push.

  • 50m Sled Pull.

  • 80m Burpee Broad Jumps.

  • 1000m Rowing.

  • 200m Kettle Bells Farmers Carry.

  • 100m Sandbag Lunges.

  • 100 Wall Balls

RideFit-An OPUS Original, is a class that emerged from our lab here in Whistler. We centre the class around a Concept 2 Bike Erg. (It’s an air bike, not the one with arms, that has no chain, so really makes it hard to spin!) This is not a spin class, as we will incorporate other exercises off the bike. This is class does not require CrossFit experience! So, come check it out!

Open Gym: There are times throughout each day dedicated to a non-structured hour. Open gym classes have a coach present, but, they are often working with other clients, or running a class. This is an hour where you can use the gym to do your own thing. Whether it’s a program our coaches have designed for you, or any session or skill you’d like to perform.

Foundations Classes. This is where you start if you are looking to join the gym, and do not have CrossFit experience. It has value beyond comprehension if you are new to CrossFit. In these session we will take the time to teach you all you need to know to get jump into our group training. Each session begins by teaching a variety of skills (exercises), and ease you into a variety of workouts and intensity to best lay a foundation for future success and results in our programs.
